N-Dubz star Dappy says Tulisa will bring "rawness" and "bluntness" to The X Factor

Tulisa Contostavlos

N-Dubz star Dappy has backed his fellow band member Tulisa on The X Factor, saying the singer will be "the closest thing" to Simon Cowell on the panel. Tulisa Contostavlos was confirmed yesterday as one of three new judges on The X Factor 2011 panel, alongside Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow.

Louis Walsh meanwhile will be the only returning judge from last year's show.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Dappy - real name Costadinos Contostavlos, Tulisa's cousin - said: “She’ll bring rawness, bluntness. She’s the closest thing to Simon Cowell on the panel. If you are crap, she’ll tell you you’re crap.”

Simon Cowell revealed yesterday that he was expecting fireworks between Tulisa and Louis. He said: “I have a feeling Louis and Tulisa will have slightly different points of view as to what the next star should look and sound like!”

Talking about her new job on the UK’s biggest reality telly show, Tulisa said: “I’m so excited to be the joining The X Factor and want to bring something fresh and new to the panel.

“I’m not going to be afraid to speak my mind and mix things up a little. I am hoping to find some hot new talent and mentor a winning category. It is also going to be great to get to know and work alongside the other Judges.”

She added: “Let the fireworks begin!”

The X Factor 2011 auditions begin tomorrow in Birmingham.
