New X Factor 2011 UK judge Kelly Rowland today revealed she feels that the UK music scene is currently "incredible" and hopes by joining the show she can add to it. The US singer, formerly a apart of super girl group Destiny’s Child, added that she was going to be "sternly honest" in her role.
“I am so excited to join The X Factor UK and be able to spend time in one of my favourite places in the world," Kelly said today after it was confirmed she'd be a judge on the show.
Kelly continued: "The music coming out of the UK right now is incredible with artists like Adele, Jessie J and James Blake, so I’m confident this season of The X Factor will give me opportunity to hear a few diamonds in the rough. Being a judge is never easy, but I promise to be as sternly honest as I can and also encourage everyone who crosses the stage."
A founder member of one of the most successful girl groups of all time, Destiny’s Child, who sold over 60 million records; Kelly has won a Grammy award as a solo artist and established herself as a global star.
She added: "I can't wait to meet the world’s next superstar!”
Kelly will be joined on the show by Take That star Gary Barlow, N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos and Irish music mogul Louis Walsh.
The X Factor 2011 auditions start in Birmingham on June 1.
