Britain's Got Talent 2011 hosts Ant and Dec have joked that they're worried they could see the same fate as Cheryl Cole and be axed because of their accents! Speaking ahead of tonight's first Britain's Got Talent semi-final, the pair quipped that with Simon Cowell in charge no one is safe!
"It would be foolish for us not to be worried. We're going to have to speak reeaally sloowwwly to make sure he can understand us," Dec joked.
Ant added: "Why aye, man!"
Cheryl Cole was axed from the US X Factor last week, with show bosses blaming her "thick Geordie accent". Ant and Dec themselves are no strangers to having trouble being understood in the states, with their attempt to crack American going just as badly as Cheryl's. Speaking to The Sun however, Ant didn't think their failure was due to their accents.
"A big deal was made of the accent thing when we went over there. But we encountered very few problems," he said.
Meanwhile Ant revealed on Simon Cowell's return tonight: "He's itching to get back. We've all kinda missed him, haven't we? He has a knack of saying exactly what everyone is really thinking. I'm gutted to say this because it will make his head even bigger."
Dec added that the lack of Cowell on the panel during this year's auditions made the show 'warmer': "It's had more heart and more laughs. We wanted people to have a good laugh."
The Britain's Got Talent 2011 semi-finals begin tonight on ITV1 at 7:30PM!
