Kelly Rowland has reportedly been chosen over Alesha Dixon to join The X Factor 2011 due to her apparent 'sex factor'. According to the tabloid The People, the former Destiny's Child star was hired by Cowell who wanted to spice up the show now Cheryl and Dannii have both left.
Alesha Dixon was originally linked to the programme, describing it as more creative than her own show Strictly Come Dancing. However the singer's managed denied the speculation, saying the pop star was "committed" to the BBC dancing series.
A source said: “Simon wanted a female R&B star. Poaching Alesha from BBC’s Strictly would have been attractive. But in the end, he went with who he thought had the Sex Factor.”
Kelly is expected to be announced alongside Gary Barlow and Tulisa from N-Dubz as the replacements for Cheryl, Dannii and Simon sometime this week.
