Popstar to Operastar judge Katherine Jenkins has revealed that she'd like to take over from Dannii Minogue on The X Factor. The beautiful classical crossover singer hopes the skills she picked up judging stars on last year's ITV1 reality series will make her the perfect candidate for Simon Cowell!
“I hear there could be a vacancy on The X Factor this year. So, Simon, I’m here – come and get me," Katherine said last year.
“I am a mentor to contestants on Popstar To Operastar so I’ve made the move from stage to telly. It would be a similar kind of role so I am getting the relevant training to join Simon on the panel.
“I now know what he has to go through with the contestants. What it’s like to have to deal with them when they get upset. I totally understand why Cheryl Cole gets tearful too. I’ve been the same when some of the celebrities on my show are gutted to go home.”
Asked about what style of judge she'd be on the show, Katherine explained: "I am no Simon Cowell, I’m not tough enough, I can’t be the bad cop because the thought of upsetting them upsets me.
“I see myself as more of a Cheryl Cole. I’d like to work alongside her. She’s more of a pop girl and I do opera but we are both very passionate about our work.”
Popstar to Operastar returns to screens on Sunday June 5 for a second series which includes Joe McElderry.
