Dannii Minogue didn't quit The X Factor, she was axed by Simon Cowell according to show sources, with one saying: "He wanted new people this year." The 39-year-old Aussie judge announced on Saturday night that she was to pull out of the show due to schedule clashes with Australia's Got Talent.
However according to The Sun today, "the truth" is that Dannii was forced to quit the show by boss Simon Cowell. "She was axed, pure and simple," a source told the tabloid.
"Simon is a huge admirer of Dannii and loved working with her but the fact is he wanted new people this year."
The paper continues to fuel rumours that N-Dubz star Tulisa will be joining the programme, whilst Kelly Rowland is tipped to be the third new judge, replacing Dannii Minogue. Take That's Gary Barlow is also set to join the reality megahit this year.
Despite Dannii Minogue claiming she quit the show due to problems with Australia's Got Talent's live shows, an insider suggested she was really forced out. "It's true that during discussions there was an issue with dates as she was supposed to filming in Australia when we were due to record," a source blabbed.
They continued: "But if we wanted her on the show we would have been able to work round it. We have already changed the auditions for another judge (Gary Barlow) so he can fulfil his tour dates. It's our show - we can do what we like.
"Simon has been telling producers he wants Kelly Rowland and Tulisa from N-Dubz and the simple fact is there wasn't room for everyone.
"Something had to give - and that something was Dannii."
A "friend" of Dannii Minogue, who may or may not be related to her PR company, told the newspaper: "She's angry that she was told to keep dates free and that they kept talking to her about it as though she was coming back.
"They left things too long so she faced having to make some very difficult decisions. Ultimately she was the one that called an end to the talks - but the writing was on the wall."
As a result of Dannii's quitting the show, the first X Factor 2011 auditions in Manchester this week have been moved to June 12, 13 and 14.
