Next week's Manchester auditions for The X Factor have been axed after Dannii Minogue walked out of the show, it has been revealed. What were originally meant to be first live judges auditions for the 2011 series on May 18 have now been postponed and instead will be held in the middle of June.
TellyMix previously exclusively revealed this year's X Factor 2011 audition dates last week, however with Dannii Minogue's shock departure from the panel today Simon Cowell reportedly wants more time to organise the judges.
Currently it has been confirmed that Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue will not be on the show this year having left due to other commitments on The X Factor USA and Australia's Got Talent respectively. Simon meanwhile has also left the panel, however it is understood he may return to the show in some form later in the series.
"Simon's a control freak. He didn't want the show to start without being there," a source said. "That's why, when the decision was made about Dannii, he pulled the plug on the Manchester auditions."
The insider continued to tell News Of The World: "Yes, Dannii's been brilliant over the last few years. But what everyone has to remember is that the star of the X Factor isn't the judging panel, it's the format. As long as the talent is there people will watch.
"Yes the judges are important but they are not the key to the show's success. The quality of the singers is everything."
UPDATE: The new Manchester audition dates are on June 12, 13 and 14 at EventCity. Read more at The X Factor 2011 audition dates and tickets post.
