Alesha Dixon today seemed to confirm reports that she was being lined up to replace Cheryl Cole on The X Factor, saying she'd love to do the show. The Strictly Come Dancing judge praised the rival reality telly series - commenting it was far "more creative" than the BBC's offering.
Alesha, who controversially replaced Arlene Phillips on Strictly in 2009, told Star magazine today: "I do think it's great on X Factor that the judges get to mentor. It's much more creative. We don't do that on Strictly, we just comment."
Recent rumours suggest that Simon Cowell is set on nabbing the popstar from the dancing show to work on The X Factor this year - and the woman herself didn't seem to dismiss the speculation.
"I'm into anything that enables me to use my creativity," said Alesha.
We talked a bit yesterday about how Simon was just days away from singing Alesha for the singing competition. A source said: "[Simon] has spent weeks handpicking the right people – he’s a perfectionist who changes his mind by the hour.
"There have been heated debates, and disagreements almost every day between Cowell, ITV and senior executives over who they need to sign up to give it some stardust.”
Yesterday Simon Cowell 'confirmed' Gary Barlow would be replacing him as a judge on the show. "I think he would be terrific on it. He’s very competitive," Cowell said.
Auditions for The X Factor 2011 start in Manchester on May 18.
