Cute telly host Claudia Winkleman is set to be the new host of the Xtra Factor, according to the latest reports. The presenter - who currently hosts rival reality show spin-off Strictly Come Dancing's It Takes Two, is set to present the ITV2 show from this summer after Konnie Huq was given the axe.
Konnie became the latest in a long line of presenters to get the chop earlier this year after just the one series. Previous Xtra Factor hosts have included Holly Willoughby, Fearne Cotton and Ben Shephard.
A source said: "Claudia is a brilliant presenter and has proved herself time and time again. She's exactly the light-hearted fun host a show like The Xtra Factor needs.
"With Dermot continuing to front the main show, bosses wanted another fiesty woman to present the ITV2 spin-off. The chemistry between the pair should be great."
However despite Cowell eyeing up the petite brunette for the programme, BBC producers of Strictly Come Dancing may not be wanting to let go of her so easily. In the past series Claudia has taken on a bigger role in the show, including fronting the Sunday night results programme on BBC One alongside Tess Daly.
A BBC insider revealed: "Claudia is a great asset for Strictly Come Dancing and bosses don't want to let her go. They're prepared to make changes to her contract to keep her, but with the cut backs they're in a tight spot."
It would seem however Simon Cowell, whose wealth is revealed by today's Sunday Times' rich list to be £200 million has no such money worries.
Other names linked to the Xtra Factor role include Kimberley Walsh and Matt Edmondson.
