Simon Cowell will reportedly be taking part in The X Factor UK this year despite numerous rumours, but only as his role as producer of the programme. According to a sneaky show source in today's The Sun, it would be "physically" impossible for Simon to judge on both the US and UK shows.
The US version of the programme is expected to launch in the states in the autumn, just as the UK live shows begin. A production source explained to the tabloid: "Simon's a workaholic but he'd need a time machine to be physically able to appear on both the American and UK versions of X Factor, all of the time.
"His priority this year is the launch of the American version. If it is a success it will seal The X Factor as the biggest and most spectacular entertainment show in the history of television. The X Factor is Simon's baby and he will still be the key decision-maker behind the scenes.
"It's this show that changed his life and there is no way he could leave it behind permanently."
Meanwhile there have been calls by Cowell's mum to get the music mogul to tone down his non-stop work schedule. A pal said: "Simon's mum is freaking out. His family think he's doing too much and are telling him to slow down before his workload seriously damages his health."
The X Factor 2011 auditions concluded on Sunday in Cardiff.
