Lily Allen "80 per cent confirmed" to take part in The X Factor UK

Cheryl Cole

British popstar Lily Allen may have given up music for the time being, but it seems as though the chart topper is now set on helping others into the business. According to The Sun today, the songstress - who first found fame in 2005 - is almost certainly going to be joining The X Factor this year.

The newspaper claims that Allen is "80 per cent confirmed" to be taking part in the show in replace of Cheryl Cole, an ironic twist of events given the pair’s many tabloid fights and clashes with one another. Cole it is expected will leave the show and join the US version of the programme along with Simon Cowell.

The tabloid suggests that a replacement for Simon hasn't been confirmed yet, although bosses are still keen to get Take That star Gary Barlow on board to join the programme when it returns in August this year.

Now if anyone could just explain to us exactly what "80 per cent confirmed" means...
