Simon Cowell is reportedly in a battle with ITV to get rid of Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh from The X Factor 2011 panel. According to the News Of The World, Cowell wants to overhaul this year's show with a completely new panel while ITV bosses are scared the impact such a change will have on ratings.
The move would mean that only Dermot O'Leary would remain from last year's show, with Xtra Factor host Konnie already being axed and Cowell and Cheryl Cole leaving to front the US version. A source told the tabloid: "If Simon and the other show bosses get their way this will be the most dramatic shake-up in X Factor history."
The paper claims The X Factor 2011 could well see a panel of four brand new judges, as well as some "superstar" guest judges at the auditions this summer. The source continued: "The producers are very excited by the idea of the show being entirely fresh. There is a view that Louis and Dannii are a bit tired and have offered all they can, especially Louis. But they'll be shocked to hear they may not be wanted."
A variety of names have been linked to the show this year, including Take That stars Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow, loud mouth popstar Lily Allen, Canadian crooner Michael Buble and former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne. Meanwhile everyone from Kimberley Walsh to Brian Dowling has been tipped to host the Xtra Factor.
Despite Cowell's big plans however bosses at ITV are said to be understandably nervous about losing all four judges in one year. Unfortunately for poor Louis however, it looks as though it will be him to go first, with an ITV source saying last night: "Viewers love Dannii especially. Simon has never understood how popular she is. It's important she is there, and for viewers to have a sense of familiarity."
