Big Brother 2 and Ultimate Big Brother winner Brian Dowling has become the latest name linked to the Xtra Factor hosting role. The Irish star, who rose to fame after appearing in the Channel 4 reality series, has reportedly tried out for the ITV2 spin-off show for the latest series this summer.
A show insider told Herald.ie today: "This could be a huge career opportunity for Brian and he's determined to go for it 100pc.
"It's still early days and they're keeping a very open mind when it comes to Konnie's replacement. But Brian could definitely be in with a shot. He's very well known in Britain, thanks to his time on Big Brother and his profile was boosted even more when he won the last-ever show."
Brian has previously fronted ITV1 gameshow The Mint as well as Channel 5's Live From Studio Five magazine programme.
The source added: "This is the job that everyone wants right now but he's very likeable and has a lot of TV experience. The fact that he's also Irish will stand to him a lot."
