After we got Konnie Huq on the Xtra Factor last year to replace Holly Willoughby, the thought of who on earth could end up hosting the main show this year should Dermot left filled us with dread. Thankfully however the hunky X Factor host will be back, for this year at least, to present the front the programme.
Details of Dermot's new deal were revealed today after it was confirmed he would not be hosting the US version of the show. "I am obviously disappointed that I didn’t get the American gig. I would have loved a crack at it," Dermot said. "At least I was the only Brit to make the shortlist.”
Meanwhile an insider explained to The Mirror: “It’s no reflection on Dermot. The US show is just going a different way. He is happy with the new deal [in the UK], while Simon is confident he will deliver an all-star cast over in the US.”
Dermot was already back on The X Factor UK yesterday as he filmed parts of this year's auditions in Glasgow.
