Channel 4 are reportedly planning to 'upstage' the royal wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William on April 29 by airing a royal version of hit show Big Fat Gypsy Weddings. According to the Daily Star, the show will see the wedding of a 'real gyspy prince and princess' from the travelling community.
A source told the paper: “The special will involve a very clever take on the royal wedding and will prove to be the real people’s wedding.
“There’s been a huge amount of interest in Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, so it is perfect to tie something in with the royal wedding."
The insider added: “People will be gripped by wedding mania on this special day and we want to serve up something special for them to enjoy.”
The six part fly on the wall documentary proved a surpise hit for Channel 4, attracting up to 8 million viewers to the channel between January and February, beating tough competition from BBC and ITV.
