The Sky Sports presenter who was caught up in the broadcaster's sexism row involivng Andy Gray has become the new host of ITV1 reality show 71 Degrees North. Charlotte Jackson will replace Kate Thornton as host alongside Paddy McGuinness, who replaces Gethin Jones as co-host from the first series.
The show follows 10 celebrities who attempt to make it to the North Cape at 71 degrees north. At the end of each episode, the celebrity who performed worst on that day's challenge was eliminated. The first series, broadcast on ITV1 last September, was won by Hollyoaks actor Marcus Patric.
Speaking about her new role on the show, Charlotte Jackson told The Sun: "It's going to be very cold but great fun.
"I am hugely excited to be a part of the new series."
Original host Kate Thornton quit the show to look after her children and wished the new presenting team the best of luck. "Due to the change in my circumstances at home I was unable to travel to the Arctic," she said. "But I wish Paddy, Charlotte and the team the very best of luck. I can't wait to catch the show in the warmth and comfort of my living room!"
A source told the newspaper: "Without Kate, producers decided to go for a new presenting team. Gethin is busy recording a pilot for a new game show for ITV."
Celebs due to take part in the second series include Coronation Street actor John Thomson, ex-EastEnders and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp and The Zone host Angellica Bell.
