ITV bosses are said to be so desperate to get Simon Cowell to appear on this year's series of The X Factor that they are planning on using a satellite link up to get him on the show. According to tabloid reports, Cowell will judge the show from the states with his reaction and comments beamed to the studio live via satellite.
A show source explained to the Daily Star yesterday: “ITV are desperate for Simon to be on the show in any way they can. If he insists on staying in the States, then they’re prepared to beam him through via satellite.
“It makes perfect sense and could easily work. There is a genuine fear that X Factor without Cowell would flop."
It is currently rumoured that Cowell is set to leave the UK version of the show to launch the first US series, due to air at the same time this autumn. “He’s the only judge whose comments people want to hear," the insider continued, "The others will hate it because it means Simon’s head will be even bigger than normal on the big screen.”
The source added: “And there is another downside. Dannii and Louis can’t slap him or throw water over him if he says something cruel.”
