Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole both quit The X Factor, say reports

X Factor UK judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole have reportedly quit the show in order to work on the American version, the News Of The World has claimed. The newspaper suggests that the move could well see an entirely new panel in the show's biggest ever shake up - with even Louis and Dannii getting the chop!

"Losing Simon and Cheryl is a nightmare. We may be looking at an entirely new panel," an insider told the tabloid.

They added: "There will be a massive shake-up. Simon is a huge, huge loss. He gives the judging panel such authority and there are big fears that millions will switch off without him.

"And two million extra viewers tuned in when Cheryl joined the panel. To lose her as well is a nightmare."

Last year polls carried out saw Cheryl and Simon voted as the most popular X Factor judges, while poor Louis lingered in last place.

The source continued: "Dannii looks the most likely to survive. Louis's position is in danger - but no one has been booted off yet."

Earlier today we reported how Louis Walsh was concerned for his position on the panel, telling a friend he and Dannii were "in total limbo" over their jobs on the show. The Irish judge also revealed last week that he was expecting at least two new members on the panel, but was unsure of who could replace Simon Cowell.

Meanwhile show sources have echoed concerns from Louis Walsh that this year's show could "crumble to pieces". One said: "With Simon and Cheryl not there, the whole thing could feel very flat."

Cowell himself would only say: "I am committed to making sure both shows get bigger and better every year."
