Simon Cowell is rumoured to be "holding secret talks" with the UK's Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt about a new reality telly talent show based on the 2012 Olympic games. According to The Mirror, The X Factor boss wants to get sporty school kids involved in a unique one-off programme.
“He already has the two biggest shows on TV in Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor," a source told the newspaper. “Now he is working on another featuring sport. He thinks it could be the third jewel in his TV crown and is going to work with the Tories to try and get them to back it.
“Sport could be the new showbiz in 2012 and Simon is interested in getting his piece of the Olympic action.”
The tabloid claims Cowell and Hunt spoke on Tuesday about plans for the show, which would tie in with the 2012 games in London next summer.
The minister’s spokeswoman refused to comment on the plans, only joking: “I am not expecting Jeremy to appear on X Factor.”
