Louis Walsh has confirmed media reports that two new judges on The X Factor panel this year are likely, with Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell moving to work on the US version of the programme. While the Irish judge was keen to emphasis that nothing was definite yet, Louis suggested someonlike Sir Paul McCartney could replace Cowell on the panel.
Discussing the rumours, Louis said: "The fact is nobody has been hired. I think I'm on, I think Dannii is on. I've had a chat with Simon off the record and I definitely think I'll be back."
He added: "I think we'll be getting two new judges this year with Simon and Cheryl in America. But nothing's definite."
Quizzed by OK! TV's Kate Walsh, Louis said that he wouldn't mind the return of Sharon Osbourne to the show in replace of Cheryl, but felt few people could replace Simon. "Simon is my favourite," he said on Channel 5, "He's a really great judge and he's also got a great instinct.
"I don't know anybody I like him. I don't think anyone could replace him. Possibly someone like Sir Paul McCartney or Bob Geldof."
Auditions for The X Factor begin next month.
