Former Blue Peter presenter turned Strictly Come Dancing star Matt Baker has been confirmed as the new presenter of BBC One's 'The One Show'. Baker will front the programme weekly from Monday to Thursday alongside currently co-host Alex Jones, while Chris Evans will continue to present Friday's show.

Baker will be taking over the show from February 14 following the shock departure of Jason Manford who was involved in a Twitter 'sexting' scandal late last year.

Speaking about the move, Matt commented: "I'm over the moon to be joining The One Show as a full-time presenter. The BBC has made everything possible so I can also continue presenting Countryfile. It's the ideal combination for me and I can't wait to get started."

His new co-host Alex Jones added: "I'm so pleased to be welcoming Matt to The One Show as a permanent fixture. We have hosted the show together many times before, he's fantastic to work with and the perfect choice for The One Show."

The One Show airs at 7PM on BBC One.
