Matt Baker favourite to front The One Show as guest hosts step in

Former Blue Peter presenter and current Strictly Come Dancing star Matt Baker has been tipped to front The One Show after Jason Manford resigned with immediate effect earlier this morning. Meanwhile it's understood a range of guest hosts will step in until a permanent replacement for the programme is confirmed.

Manford took over as one of the show's new presenters this summer after Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakly moved to rival channel ITV. Last night it was revealed however he had "jumped before he was pushed" after confessing to a tabloid newspaper about his "internet sex sessions with 12 girl fans."

Blue Peter's former presenter Matt Baker is currently tipped to take over, although he faces competition from BBC breakfast presenter Chris Hollins, as well as Adiran Chiles who Paddy Power speculate could make a shock return!

Meanwhile sources close to the BBC have confirmed that Manford, a regular on the broadcaster's comedy shows including 'Live At The Apollo', has not been blacklisted from the channel and will be free to continue to appear on its shows.

The source added that shows bosses "will not necessarily be forced to seek a safe replacement" in the likes of Matt Baker and Chris Hollins.
