The Crown Season 3 release date
Netflix has announced that Season 3 of The Crown will be available to watch in 2019.
An exact release date hasn't yet been revealed.
Depicting the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 through to the present day, The Crown's third series picks up from Season 2 in the 1960s. The season will cover Harold Wilson's time as Prime Minister, Princess Margaret's affair and divorce, plus introduce Camilla Parker Bowles and Lady Diana Spencer, who will be the focus of already confirmed season 4.
The Crown season 3 cast
From Season 3, Olivia Colman will take over from Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II. She'll also appear as The Queen in Season 4.
Tobias Menzies has been cast as Prince Phillip for the third and fourth seasons while Helena Bonham Carter will play HRH Princess Margaret and Jason Watkins will play Harold Wilson.
Helena Bonham Carter said: “I’m not sure which I’m more terrified about - doing justice to the real Princess Margaret or following in the shoes of Vanessa Kirby’s Princess Margaret. The only thing I can guarantee is that I’ll be shorter (than Vanessa).”
Jason Watkins added: “I am delighted to become part of this exceptional show. And so thrilled to be working once again with Peter Morgan. Harold Wilson is a significant and fascinating character in our history. So looking forward to bringing him to life, through a decade that transformed us culturally and politically. And excited to be working so closely with Olivia; and the whole team.”
The Crown Season 3 will launch in 2019 on Netflix UK.
