Channel 5 has unveiled the first-look trailer for its brand new six-part drama Murder Before Evensong.
The upcoming series is adapted from Reverend Richard Coles’ Sunday Times best-selling debut novel.
Set in 1980s England, it stars Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter, All Creatures Great and Small) as Canon Daniel Clement, the Rector of Champton, who finds his quiet parish thrown into chaos when a body is discovered at the back of the church.
What begins with a seemingly simple plan to modernise the church quickly spirals into a deadly mystery, as more bodies turn up and Daniel must hold his fractured community together while uncovering the truth.

Joining Lewis in the cast are Amanda Redman (New Tricks) as Daniel’s widowed mother Audrey, Amit Shah (Happy Valley) as DS Neil Vanloo, Adam James (The Day of the Jackal), Meghan Treadway (One Day), Alexander Delamain, Marion Bailey (The Crown), Amanda Hadingue (Kaos), Tamzin Outhwaite (The Wives), Francis Magee (Kin) and Nina Toussaint-White (Showtrial).

Daniel is also never far from his two loyal dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda, who provide a lighter touch amid the drama.
The series has been adapted by Nick Hicks-Beach (Lewis, Midsomer Murders) and directed by David Moore (Fool Me Once, Outlander), with Reverend Richard Coles serving as executive producer alongside Radford Neville.
Filmed in the West Midlands, the show captures both the charm and tensions of small-village life.
Murder Before Evensong will premiere this autumn on Channel 5 in the UK, while Acorn TV will stream the series in the US and Canada.
