ITV is turning up the suspense this summer, giving us our first real taste of its upcoming espionage thriller Secret Service.
Gemma Arterton takes the lead as MI6 officer Kate Henderson.
The five-part drama, adapted from Tom Bradby’s bestselling novel, promises a tense ride through the murky world of modern spycraft.
It story follows Kate as she uncovers intelligence that a senior British politician may be working as a Russian asset, just as geopolitical tensions reach fever pitch.
Trust quickly erodes in Whitehall as loyalties shift and the stakes become personal. For Kate, the price of exposing the truth might mean sacrificing everything.
Alongside Gemma, we’ll see Rafe Spall, Mark Stanley, Rochenda Sandall, Alex Kingston, Roger Allam, Amaka Okafor, Avi Nash, Aoife Hinds, Alma Prelec and Khalid Abdalla.
Secret Service reunites novelist Tom Bradby with Oscar-winning director James Marsh, who’s behind the camera for the series’ first three episodes. Farren Blackburn takes the helm for episodes four and five, with both Bradby and Jemma Kennedy collaborating on all episode scripts.
The series will air on ITV1 and ITVX in 2026.
Filming took place on location in Malta and London.
