And things got out of hand from the second he touched down at Glasgow airport, being mobbed by fans who had waited for him with pictures to sign.
The 17-year-old is the first of this year's final three to head back to their hometowns to visit friends and family, as well as drumming up local support for the final on Saturday and Sunday night.
The X Factor finalist Nicholas visited his hometown of Wishaw, Scotland, before moving on to his old school.
There, Nicholas performed on stage in the St Aiden's Academy school hall for friends, pupils and teachers.
In the evening and Nicholas moved on to sing at the Motherwell Concert Hall and Theatre, performing at a free concert for fans, some of of whom had queued up for hours to get their hands on first come, first served tickets.
Over 1,000 people packed into the venue, which is more used to hosting the annual Christmas panto, to watch Nicholas belt out some of the tunes he's performed on the live shows this year.
