As Girls Aloud
bugger off after raking it in call time on their career together, we look back at the group's past ten years in the spot light.
We say ten, but in reality three of those years were spent on some rather dubious and more often than not unsuccessful solo projects, from flop albums to a documentary on JEANS.
Last night the five piece made the announcement every had been expecting sooner or later, although no one really thought it would come via Twitter, saying that their time as a group had come to an end.
They tweeted: "Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade.
"It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots."
The news is not wholly unexpected as the group would not confirm any projects following the 20 date concert tour.
Girls Aloud reformed last year to mark the 10th anniversary of their formation on the TV talent show 'Popstars: The Rivals' on ITV.
During their first seven years together the group enjoyed 20 top 10 hits, including 4 No.1 singles and a No.1 album.
