ITV will bring a new version of Dalziel and Pascoe to TV, reviving one of Britain’s favourite detective pairings for a fresh era.
The new series reimagines Reginald Hill’s iconic crimefighting duo – Dalziel, the seasoned and unorthodox detective, and Pascoe, the by-the-book junior – for a new audience.
Our last on-screen outing with Dalziel and Pascoe starred Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan and ran for a remarkable 12 series between 1996 and 2007, airing on the BBC.
This new take stays true to the spirit of Hill’s books, but with a modern edge aimed at grabbing today’s viewers.
ITV’s Nana Hughes spoke about the revival, saying, “It’s a genuine privilege to bring Reginald Hill’s much-loved Dalziel and Pascoe back to the screen for a new audience.
“At the heart of this series is the enduring, unexpected chemistry between two very different detectives, and we’re excited to explore that new dynamic.”
In the US and Canada, viewers will catch Dalziel and Pascoe on BritBox, where EVP Programming Jon Farrar points out, “Dalziel and Pascoe has always been about friction, intellect, and the uneasy bond of opposites, forged in pursuit of truth… It’s timeless crime storytelling that not only honours but sharpens its legacy.”
Filming is set to begin in the North of England in spring 2026, with the 6-part drama scheduled for broadcast on ITV, STV, and streaming via ITVX and STV Player in the UK.
