Speaking on BBC Asian Network, Preeya said: ”It’s actually really exciting. I’m quite excited to go back and face the wrath of Syed and Christian!” Amira was last seen in April 2010 after departing Walford following the revelation that husband Syed Masood (Marc Elliot) was gay and was having an affair with former friend Christian Clarke (John Partridge).

However, Amira failed to reveal that she was secretly pregnant with Syed’s child and speaking on the radio station today, Amira revealed the sex of their baby revealing that she will ”come back with a little girl” later this year when Amira makes her Walford return in October.

When asked about what to expect from the upcoming storyline, Kalidas replied: ”Drama – a lot of drama. It’s going to get emotional – it’s EastEnders, it’s got to! She’s having a tough time of it – she’s a defiant woman who’s defying her dad, and she comes back to the Square and ends up facing the man who broke her heart.”

Preeya also revealed that her character will star in special scenes filmed exclusively for the BBC’s Red Button Service which will air next month.  Speaking about the special scenes, Kalidas said: “I just filmed last week a BBC red button, which I think will be shown on the 8th and 9th of September. And then my official return to the Square will be in October. Next month, on the red button, you’ll see her in her £2 million pad, where she’s been held a prisoner by her dad!”

Amira’s return to the Square will air on BBC1 in October.
