Preeya Kalidas confirms that Amira will be returning to 'Eastenders' later this year!

Eastenders actress Preeya Kalidas has confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Amira Shah on the BBC1 soap later this year. Kalidas who is 31 left the soap last year to pursue a singing career but she was dropped by her record label after her debut single ‘Shimmy’ only got to a disappointing number 85 on the UK charts.

Speaking on Twitter, Kalidas tweeted: ”To all the fans that ask me everyday.. This is for you…. She’s coming back! AMIRA RETURNS!! (sic)” Amira was last seen on screens last year after she left Walford following the revelation that her husband Syed Masood (Marc Elliot) had been having an affair with her friend Christian Clarke (John Partridge) and was in fact gay but fighting his feelings.

A source today told The Mirror: ”Amira left Walford a heartbroken woman. When she finds out Syed is planning to marry Christian she is furious. Amira is manipulative and her presence looks set to turn the lives of the Masoods upside down. The question is, has she moved on from her husband or will she do whatever she can to get him back? Only time will tell.”

Speculation has already began over the internet with many fans pondering if manipulative Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) may be the one who reveals Syed and Christian’s plans to Amira. Scenes over the last few months have seen Christian and Syed considering adoption but with Amira revealing she was pregnant just before she left the square could there be a fierce custody battle on the horizon?

Preeya will return to filming in a few weeks and Amira will be making a sensational comeback in October. Executive Producer Bryan Kirkwood had already teased that he was trying to lure a big name back to the show but it has not been confirmed if Preeya was the big name or if we could have another big name star winging it back to Walford.
