X Factor USA boss Simon Cowell has kept quiet over rumours on the new series, although admitted he would love for Britney Spears to join the panel.
The second season of the US show starts filming soon, and is in need of two new female judges after axing both Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.
Asked about the rumours surrounding Britney this week, who is speculated to have agreed to a £9.4 million deal, Simon said: “If it was my decision, 100%. If we could get her, yeah.”
But a cryptic Simon suggested that the names who will eventually be revealed could be those people least expect.
He teased: “Don’t forget, there’s a lot of names that have been bandied around – some true, some false – but we’ve said to everyone we’ve spoken to we’ve got to keep quiet about it because you’ve got to wait until people sign up.”
He added: “But we’re very, very close.”
As well as Britney, those linked to the panel include the likes of LeAnn Rimes, Pink, Avril Lavigne and even former X Factor UK winner Leona Lewis.
