Britney Spears 'desperate' for X Factor USA judging role

Britney Spears is reportedly “desperate” to take part in The X Factor USA, with the US star hoping to sign a deal with Simon Cowell later this week.

While neither Britney’s team nor Simon has confirmed that they are in any talks for the second season of the US reality show, rumours have suggested that the popstar is weeks away from agreeing to take part.

The US series of the hit UK reality show has gone through three judges and a presenter already, with Cheryl Cole, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Steve Jones all getting the axe in the first year.

With two new female judges to recruit, Britney is top of Simon’s list, and she apparently would love the opportunity.

A source tells Reveal magazine this week: “Britney would do anything for that job.

“She would love a job that’s stable, where she isn’t travelling all the time and where she doesn’t have to away from her fiancé Jason and her boys.”

But the insider warned that the role would require hard work, and Simon wouldn’t be afraid of cutting Britney if she wasn’t up to the challenge.

The spy went on: “Simon is a perfectionist, and he expects that form everyone he works with. Britney isn’t going to be able to sit back and take it easy.”

They added: “He’s a tough task master.”

The X Factor USA returns to screens in the autumn. It will air on ITV2 here in the UK.
