Britney Spears has apparently rejected a $10 million offer to join The X Factor USA, with the popstar holding out for a $20 million fee.
It was confirmed last month that Britney was in talks to join the show, with X Factor boss Simon Cowell saying he was “fascinated” by the singer.
Last week it was suggested that Britney was just weeks away from signing a deal, but now negotiations have stalled on how much she’ll be getting.
It comes as The X Factor USA’s rival The Voice, which is currently achieving record high ratings in its second season, announces its set to go head to head with The X Factor in the autumn this year.
The Voice, which launches here in the UK on March 24, has been a huge hit in the states and is currently out rating even American Idol, a feat that the first series of The X Factor USA failed to do.
US network NBC is reportedly playing Christina Aguilera around $10 million to return, well above the X Factor USA’s budget, which saw Paula Abdul pocket $2.5 million last year.
Reps for Simon, The X Factor nor Britney would comment on the rumours.
