Simon Cowell’s pal Louis Walsh has blabbed that the X Factor boss is in talks with Britney Spears to become a judge on The X Factor USA this year.

The popstar was previously linked to the role last month, with Louis confirming this week that Simon was “definitely” talking speaking to the US singer about joining the show.

Louis said this week: “I was out with Simon Cowell during the week, he’s in London.

“You know like you do and I know he is talking to Britney. He’s definitely talking to Britney to do his American show. Absolutely true!”

The X Factor USA is after two new female stars after Simon axed both Paula Abdul and Nicole Schzerzinger after the first series finished last month. Brit host Steve Jones was also axed, with Simon confirming he was after a male and female hosting duo to replace the Welsh presenter.

Simon also recently revealed that he’d definitely be interested in Britney joining the show.

He explained: “Well, I’m fascinated by her. The fact that she’s still one of the most talked-about – not just popstars, but people in the world today – means that you’ve got this star power.

“This girl’s got resilience and the fact that she’s survived this and she’s still hot, she’s still having hit records and she’s still controversial… there’s a reason for that.”

Asked whether or not she’d be able to cope with the show, Simon replied: “I would think that if she’s managed to sustain in her family life a career which is tough, this is a walk in the park.”
