Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has become the latest star to be cut from the second series of The X Factor USA, after Steve Jones quit earlier today.
A spokesperson for FOX in the States confirmed that neither would be returning to the programme this year, in a big shake up to the show less than a year after it launched in America.
A spokeswoman for Nicole meanwhile did not return messages for comment, but sources insisted she decided to leave the series.
“She wants to focus on her music career,” an insider told E! Online this morning. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell] and he’s given her his blessing.
“X Factor took a lot more of her time than she ever expected. She didn’t have any time really to work on her music. She was doing X Factor six days a week.”
Simon Cowell previously confirmed he would be back behind the judging desk for the US version of the show, which was picked up last autumn for a second series.
