X Factor 2012 bootcamp to be 'toughest ever'

Simon Cowell (Britain's Got Talent 2012)

The X Factor 2012 bootcamp will be the toughest yet, it has been claimed.

It seems that such a statement is made every year, but after last series’ disappointing decline in ratings we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually true this time around.

Simon Cowell reportedly blasted last year’s finalists, branding them some of the “worst ever”, despite a handful getting signed.

In a bid to make sure only the best make it through to the live finals this year, the remaining hopefuls will be put through a grueling week long challenge.

The Sun reports that the contestants will not only be singing but also working on their dancing and even their styling.

It’s clear that producers aren’t even going to pretend that they’re competing with The Voice this summer.

X Factor boss Simon is also apparently after more attitude from the contestants, in the hope of boosting the show’s column inches in the press.

Currently around 200 singers remain in the competition after the initial audition rounds which concluded in Cardiff on Monday.

Bootcamp will see them whittled down into the final 32, eight in each of the four categories, who will then go on to compete in the judges’ houses section of the show.
