Nicole Scherzinger denies X Factor USA axe and claims she 'stole' Cheryl's job

New X Factor UK judge Nicole Scherzinger has insisted she wasn’t axed from the US version of the show.

Speaking at the opening of auditions in Newcastle yesterday, Nicole claimed that she had only ever planned to do one year on the American programme.

“My experience of 15 years in this industry gives me confidence and knowledge,” she told reporters. “I know that I am a hard worker and I will put my heart and soul into this show as I did in the US.

“All I can do is be honest to my heart, give it all I’ve got and bring out the best I can in the artists.”

She went on: “Simon and I have a great relationship. He didn’t axe me. I was only meant to do the one season — and now the UK has me. ”

Aren’t we lucky.

And Nicole insisted she didn’t steal Cheryl Cole’s job, following claims in Simon Cowell’s biography that she asked to join the panel while Cheryl was still there.

“If believing in yourself is calculating, I guess that’s me. But I was raised properly, never to step on anyone’s toes,” Nicole insisted this week.

She added: “Simon asked me to fill in for that job and it was an honour for me because of the experience I have in my professional life. I’m passionate about what I do. I was there to be a mentor.”

airs on ITV1 later this year.
