X Factor’s Gary Barlow has backed Nicole Scherzinger as the show’s new judge, saying she was the “best woman for the job.”
A range of guest stars joined the panel throughout auditions in May and June, but bosses finally announced Nicole was the show’s new permanent judge last week.
An despite previously backing Geri Halliwell, Rita Ora and Anastacia for the role, Gary insisted that actually he always wanted Nicole.
Speaking at the latest X Factor auditions in Newcastle yesterday, he said: “I’m made up. I thought all the guest judges were excellent but she had the edge.
“She’s exciting, has years of experience and was great on The US X Factor.”
On joining the show, Nicole said last week: “I’m so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It’s where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle.
“I can’t wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists.”
