Simon Cowell is reportedly worried that The X Factor 2012 could “bomb” in the ratings.
There’s just two more days of auditions left, and still no word on who will be replacing Kelly Rowland as full time judge.
Bosses have had to make do with a variety of guest judges at try outs so far, and not all have gone down well with fans.
Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is said to have been offered a £500,000 deal, but may not be able to commit to the series until its final in December.
And many stars – such as Katy Perry – have turned down the chance outright.
“Simon had an A list of candidates and they all tuned him down, then everyone on his B list refused – so he’s pretty troubled,” a source told Closer magazine this week.
The supposed insider went on: “He found it embarrassing they didn’t have anyone for the start of the show and had to rely on guest judges. He’s scared of bombing.”
Last year’s show was down around 2 million viewers on the previous years, although it was still the most watched show of the year with over 13 million tuning in.
Auditions continue in Newcastle and Cardiff this month.
