X Factor boss Simon Cowell is reportedly after US singer Anastacia for the UK show.
The Daily Mail report that Simon is after another American star to replace Kelly Rowland on the panel.
A range of guest stars have appeared at the show’s auditions, but it seems none have impressed producers that much.
Rita Ora won over the crowds in London on Monday, but bosses are said to be concerned about her schedule and credibility, having released only one single.
Although we’re not sure The X Factor has ever been that credible…
Anastacia is set to become the latest singer to be given a ‘trial’ during one of the upcoming audition shows after being added to Simon’s shortlist.
Insiders have described the situation as a “mess”, with even some of the guest judges being invited back to join Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa again.
They also claim there are disagreements over who to hire, with ITV keen on Nicole Scherzinger while Simon is hoping Anastacia and her “gutsy attitude” will win over viewers.
A source told the newspaper today: “Simon would like an American back on the panel as well.”
The X Factor 2012 auditions continues next week in Manchester.
