The first auditions for The X Factor 2012 had to be cut short in Liverpool, with ‘technical difficulties’ being blamed for the problems.

Two auditions shows were planned at the city’s Echo Arena, but the first had to be cut short after issues when filming.

One audience member tweeted: “Oh no! X Factor filming has stopped for today due to technical difficulties! #XFactor”

The thousands of fans who had queued for hours were escorted out of the arena, but the second showing this evening has gone ahead as planned, leaving some audience members annoyed.

Many accused show bosses of simply running late, rather than there being any technical problems.

One X Factor fan wrote online: “As if we have all been kicked out the echo arena coz of a ‘technical fault’ real reason-there running late for the other group ‪#xfactor”

“Technical fault my arse! Running an hour and half late more like! ‪#xfactor‬ me and @lozamison not impressed,” added another.

Writing on an online forum, one audience member revealed: “Was meant to be a 10.30 start we didnt actually get into our seats unitl 12.45. [sic]”

Auditions are only in the city for today, moving on London’s O2 Arena on Monday for a three day stay at the nation’s capital.
