Geri Halliwell is X Factor 2012 guest judge for Liverpool... and could join permanently

Geri Halliwell

Geri Halliwell has been confirmed as the guest judge for The X Factor 2012 auditions in Liverpool this week.

Try outs at the city kick off on Wednesday at the city’s Echo Arena, with the former Spice Girl joining the panel.

She’ll be joined by permanent judges Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa.

Geri will no doubt be hoping for a better reception than when she guest judges the show back in 2010, where she was booed by the crowds in Glasgow for being harsh to the acts.

According to The Sun, if Geri does win over the crows this time she could become the new permanent judge, replacing Kelly Rowland.

“Geri is not just a guest judge — she is our judge-in-waiting,” a source told the newspaper. “We want her to do it and she wants to do it.

“We will be watching her like a hawk at Liverpool and fingers crossed it will go well and she’ll be signed. We’re not talking to anyone else.”

The newspaper quotes producers as telling Geri: “It’s your job to lose.”

Another source told the Daily Mirror this morning: “Simon was impressed with the way Geri handled herself during auditions a couple of years ago, and thinks she has the gravitas and star presence to really shake-up the panel.

“She has a great chemistry with Louis and bosses expect these two to join forces against Gary which will make for great viewing.”
