The Voice UK favourite Jaz Ellington was rejected by The X Factor judges in 2010.
The soul singer is now tipped to win the first series of the BBC One reality show, after wowing the coaches and public with his voice.
Jaz, on Team Will.i.am, topped the public vote on Saturday as two artists from both Will and Sir Tom Jones’ teams went home.
Jaz auditioned for The X Factor in 2010, making it to the bootcamp stages.
But judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger – sitting in for a pregnant Dannii Minogue and ill Cheryl Cole at the time – decided not to put him through.
“It’s pretty embarrassing,” a source told us. “It’s even worse when you consider how that year’s winner [Matt Cardle] failed to set the charts alight.”
Bookies have made Jaz, who wowed with a mash up Just The Way You Are at the weekend, the joint favourite to win the show alongside Ruth Brown.
The pair will get to relax this weekend, as Team Jessie and Team Danny take ot the stage.
