X Factor 2012 judges: Alesha Dixon now 'favourite' to replace Kelly Rowland

Alesha Dixon is in talks to join The X Factor 2012 judging panel, after impressing on Britain’s Got Talent this year.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge joined BGT in January, and is in line to make the reality telly leap to The X Factor later this month.

Bosses need another female judge after Kelly Rowland quit, and with favourites Dannii Miogue and Katy Perry looking unlikely, Alesha is said to be the next name on the list.

Dannii is reportedly refusing to relocate again to the UK to make a comeback, while US star Katy is understood to have demanded more cash than ITV are willing to pay.

“Simon is a huge fan of Alesha,” a source told the Daily Star Sunday. “He knows she’ s been a massive hit with viewers and is now considering her for X Factor.”

But if she does get the job, Alesha will be sure to know she was never the first choice.

“Katy Perry is Simon’s dream but he knows it is unlikely to happen,” the source added. “Dannii making a sensational comeback is also losing momentum so Simon sees Alesha as his ace card.”

Filming of the first auditions had been set to start this week, but have been pushed back until May 23 in Liverpool.
