Marina & the Diamonds star to become X Factor 2012 judge?

Simon Cowell (Britain's Got Talent 2012)

Simon Cowell is reportedly after Marina & the Diamonds star Marina Lambrini Diamandis for The X Factor 2012, if Dannii Minogue fails to return.

The Aussie popstar has reportedly been offered a £750,000 fee to make a comeback, but is refusing to relocate back to the UK for the auditions in the summer.

The X Factor is in need of a new female judge after Kelly Rowland announced last month that she was quitting the show after just one series.

Former X Factor star Dannii Minogue has been the favourite to join the panel (again), but said this week that she had no plans to leave Australia.

“Dannii has a formal offer from ITV, Thames, and Cowell’s company Syco. The ball is well and truly in her court. We hope she’ll return and think it will be the best thing for the show,” a supposed source told the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that bosses hope Dannii’s return would be a “publicity coup” for the show, following revelations about Dannii and Simon Cowell’s relationship.

But if Dannii snubs the offer, Simon is apparently after Marina Lambrini Diamandis to replace Kelly.

So far only Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh have been officially announced as part of The X Factor 2012 panel, while Tulisa has also said she’d be back.

Filming for the show begins in Liverpool on May 23.
