Simon Cowell fired Kelly Rowland from The X Factor UK, it has been claimed today.
Yesterday a spokesperson for the US star announced that she wouldn’t be back, citing “global commitments coupled with the show’s increasing demands” as the reason for her exit after just one series.
But The Sun reports that Simon and show bosses wanted her gone after she failed to connect with viewers.
“Kelly was never given a contract to look at by bosses,” a source told the newspaper. “Simon has remained a big fan of Dannii’s and wants her back.”
An X Factor insider added: “Kelly put a lot of people’s noses out of joint last year due to her lack of commitment and her demands.”
But a pal close to the singer hit back, saying ITV simply refused to negotiate a new deal.
“Kelly had been in talks with ITV. They wanted more of her time for no more money,” the supposed friend told the tabloid.
Former judge Dannii Minogue has become the faovurite to replace Kelly on the show.
Filming for The X Factor 2012 begins later this month in Liverpool.
