The mum of The Voice UK star Sophie Griffin has revealed how she was kicked out of The X Factor last year.
Sophie had originally wowed the judges, including Gary Barlow, but was cut at bootcamp without getting a second chance to sing.
Last year we saw judges Gary, Kelly Rowland, Tulisa and Louis Walsh kick around 30 hopefuls out of the show after originally putting them through at the original auditions.
“She got four yes’s in the X-Factor and Gary Barlow said to her on-stage that she would be one-to-watch,” mum Caroline told the Mid-Ulster Mail today.
She revealed: “But she still got kicked out and never got a chance to sing. The Voice is totally different.”
“The first time her blind audition came on the TV she got really emotional, and it just hit her then that this has happened and she’d done it.”
A year on and it seems Sophie is set to prove Gary and the other X Factor judges’ wrong, as she prepares to perform live on tomorrow night.
Her coach Will.i.am had nothing but praise for the 17-year-old.
“Sophie, whoa, watch out for Sophie,” he said this week. “Seventeen and just a powerhouse. She is amazing. She could do anything.”
And Sophie’s not the only rejected X Factor contestant taking to the stage this weekend.
Joelle Moses previously auditioned for the show in 2008, but was sent home at bootcamp.
