Former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has warned reality telly contestants that appearing on shows like The X Factor is just the first step to stardom.
In an interview with Marie Claire, on sale Thursday, Cheryl warned this year X Factor hopefuls that they would have to “work like crazy” if they wanted to make a career out of their appearance on such shows.
The singer, who was a judge on the ITV1 series for three years from 2008 to 2011, said of the wannabes: “It’s cute. It’s like you see they’re excited and they feel like they’re in the industry but really they haven’t done anything yet.
“It’s a learning process.”
She confessed: “In some ways I would like the naivety but in other ways, absolutely not.
“We [Girls Aloud] worked like crazy in those days. We didn’t stop for breath.”
