X Factor boy group One Direction have reportedly been forced to stop inviting fans on stage at their concerts after bullying of the lucky chosen few.
The hunky singers, who kicked off their first headlining concert last month, had asked for members of the crowd to join them on stage for some of the songs.
But with thousands of screaming fans filling out venues to see the group, and just a few being chosen, jealous bullying of those picked has led to the idea being scrapped.
The Daily Mirror reports that messages sent to the girls chosen for the first few tour dates included: “I think you’re pathetic”, “You’re not even pretty, why did Harry choose you?” and “You’re kinda rat-faced.”
One of the girls revealed to the newspaper: “Then they sang to us wearing tuxes. Harry was really sweet. The jealous messages began almost straight away.
“I think it’s because I was partnered with Harry, the most popular member.”
She added: “I’ve tried to ignore the messages. But it’s a shame as the band have now cut the whole fan interaction scene from the routine.”
A One Direction spokesman told the tabloid: “The girls were brought up on stage for a warm-up show at the beginning of the tour as a try. It didn’t work out from a practical point of view.”
