X Factor 2011: Little Mix won't wait a year to release their debut album

X Factor winners Little Mix have said they don’t want to wait a year to release their debut album. The girls, who won the show last weekend, revealed they were eager to put out their material as soon as possible.

In recent years the show’s contestants haven’t released any music until the next year’s series has kicked off, with Rebecca Ferguson only releasing her debut album earlier this month.

“We don’t want to wait as long as Matt Cardle had to before we release our album. We don’t want to wait until the end of next year,” the group’s Perrie Edwards said this week.

“Obviously we want the album to be perfect but we want to get on with it. I’m sure we will be able to charm Simon into letting us.”

She added: “Everyone is saying he thinks we can be the next big thing. He sent us a lovely bunch of flowers when we won, which was so thoughtful of him. There was a little note with them.

“If he wants to take us over to America with him we would love it. We want to reach for the stars.”

Last night the girls hit the top spot with their debut single Cannonball.
